What are the Navilyst PICC lines by AngioDynamics
Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) provide access to the venous system, to allow for the delivery of medication or fluids. Typically, PICCs are used for patients who require therapy that will extend over a period of time. PICCs are usually inserted into a vein in the upper arm.
Navilyst Medical’s Vaxcel® PICC with PASV® Valve Technology is designed to automatically close and remain closed when not in use and automatically open for infusion or sampling. Its innovative design offers the versatility and capability to provide enhanced PICC placement and care.
Benefits of the Navilyst PICC lines
Navilyst PICC lines combine the navigation of breakthrough medical technologies as a leading catalyst for change and innovation. Our commitment to your clinical success is reflected in our expanding portfolio of devices essential to Interventional Radiology, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Surgery and IV therapy.
Combining The Power of PASV® and Power Injection
Now you have the power to redefine patient care with the only power injectable PICC to incorporate PASV® Valve Technology. The Xcela® PICC with PASV® Valve Technology is designed to provide a high degree of safety, ease and confidence in patient care.
Power Injectable
Advanced features such as large lumen diameters allow the Xcela® PICC with PASV® Valve Technology to deliver the power injection flow rates required for contrast-enhanced CTs compatible with up to 325 psi CT injections.
Integrated Design
The innovative design of the PASV® Valve Technology along with the advanced material of the Xcela® Power Injectable PICC offers an advanced solution to vascular access needs.
Confidence in Results
The PASV® Valve Technology design automatically resists backflow, reducing blood reflux that could lead to catheter-related complications.

Kit Includes: Catheter; Hydrophilic-Coated Stiffening Wire; Stiffening Wire Guide/Flush Assembly; 92 cm Tape Measure; 10 mL Luer Lock Syringe(s); 21 Gauge, 2.75″ Safety Introducer Needle with Echogenic Tip; 21 Gauge, 2.75″ Standard Introducer Needle with Echogenic Tip; 70 cm Hydrophilic-Coated Guidewire with Floppy Radiopaque Tip; Safety Scalpel; 10 cm Peelable Sheath/Dilator; StatLock Catheter Securement Device; and End Cap(s).
- The 6 French, triple lumen has the largest interior diameters in Australia.
- Three lumens, two valves. Two PASV valved lumens designed to prevent blood reflex that could lead to catheter complications. One dedicated non-valved lumen for precise CVP monitoring.
- Located in the catheter hub, PASV automatically resists backflow, reducing blood reflux that could lead to catheter-related complications. The valve will automatically close after infusion and open for sampling of blood, however it will remain closed during normal increases in central venous pressure again reducing occlusion in the catheter.
- Navilyst PICC lines are power injectable with advanced features such as large lumen diameters allow the Xcela PICC with PASV Valve Technology to deliver the power injection flow rates required for contrast-enhanced CTs compatible with up to 325 psi CT injections.
- Clampless, alcohol resistant extension tubes reduce the risk of damage, promote patient comfort and reduce infection.
- Printed priming volume and lumen size simplify care and maintenance.
- A new advanced carbothane material offers alcohol resistance for durability and convenient care provides a balance of flexibility and strength to ease advancement and promotes kink resistance to maintain flow. Minimum weekly saline flush is recommended. This use of saline may limit the complications and cost associated with heparin use.
- The Carbothane allows for large internal diameters, which are designed to provide greater flow rates at lower pressures, reduces the risk of catheter occlusion and designed for easier blood withdrawal.
- Patented reverse tapered extrusion increases kink resistance and strengthens the catheter into the hub. The tampenade effect seals the entry tract.
- The PICCs are cutting edge with ease of placement. They have the shorter 70cm wire for the MST delivery. There is the exact-length measurement system. They have trimmable catheter tip and enhanced radiopacity. They are highly compatible with ECG tip location technology such as the Nautilus Delta.
